About
The Back Stop is a collectibles store on Route 37 in Toms River. It buys and sells sports cards, non-sports cards, memorabilia, toys, coins and comic books, and offers paid appraisals.
The store's inventory is organized into baseball, basketball, football, hockey, mixed and other sports, non-sports, entertainment and gaming. Much of what is in the shop never appears online: the store says it carries a full line of supplies, display cases, new and vintage singles and signed memorabilia that are only available in person. It also notes that box prices change daily, so calling or stopping in is the way to confirm what is in stock and what it costs.
People with a collection to sell are encouraged to bring it into the shop. Those who cannot visit can use an online form to describe the item type, an asking price and a description, and attach photos of up to 10MB each. Beyond cards, the categories the store buys and evaluates include toys, coins, comic books, and historical, celebrity and political items.
Appraisals and authentication are paid services, and the fee schedule is available by contacting the store. The website ties appraisals to needs such as insurance coverage, divorce settlements, wills and estate sales. There are three ways to begin: submit an online request with photos, book an appointment to bring items in, or ask for a house call. The store also keeps an events page, a newsletter about new products and events, and a gallery of customer pulls, and it sells branded shirts and mugs.
